Visual Artist
As an artist, I am very inspired by poetry and the human condition. I like to observe and reflect on life, turning my experiences into poetic texts to incorporate into my work. In my practice, I seek to shift the focus from the physical and literal environments to that of mental and emotional landscapes.
I am working to form a practice around surrealism and abstract expressionism. Though I am primarily a painter, I consider myself to be multidisciplinary. In my practice, I use a variety of mediums, such as acrylic paint, ink and charcoal to create works combining poetic text, mark-making and figurative imagery to explore themes of identity and womanhood.
I see my body as a vessel that stores all my life experiences and I want to access every part of myself. In my recent body of work "She Goes", I use methods that help me explore subconscious thought and feeling from within. I aim to create a dialogue that connects the internal and external layers of self.
